The Reference department is located on the library's main floor and provides directional and informational assistance to library patrons.
The library's reference collection provides visitors a well-rounded, up-to-date collection of recommended and standard reference works. Books in the Reference collection do not circulate.
The serial collection is composed of 192 magazine subscriptions and 31 local, state, and national newspapers. Microfilm editions of some periodicals titles, including the Meridian Star dating back to 1898, are available for patron use.
The library currently houses fifteen public access computers with Internet access. To use these computers patrons must have valid Meridian-Lauderdale County Public Library card. The library also offers WiFi .
The Meridian-Lauderdale County Public Library houses one of the best genealogy (family history) collections to be found in the east-central Mississippi region.
