Your Items Online
Library Cards:
To obtain a library card from the Meridian-Lauderdale County Public
Library, one must meet one of the following requirements:
- Live in Lauderdale County,
- Work in Lauderdale County,
- Go to school in Lauderdale County, or
- Own property in Lauderdale County.
Proper identification is required (Mississippi Driver's License or
official MS ID) is required, as is proof of current mailing address.
Children must be six (6) years old to obtain their own library card. A
parent's or legal guardian's signature is required.
Library cards are required to check out any library materials.
There is a $5 fee for replacement cards.
Non Resident
Library Cards:
A non-resident card, issued for one
year increments, is available to those not meeting resident library card
requirements for a non-refundable fee of $15 per year. Proper
identification and proof of address is required.
For short-term visitors to
Lauderdale County, temporary library cards are available which require a
refundable $100 fee. This fee is refunded when the items borrowed from the
library are returned in satisfactory condition. There are limitations on
the number of items which can be checked out with temporary cards. Ask
Circulation staff for specific information.
Deposits:
Certain items do require a
refundable deposit to be made in order to be checked out. Examples include
GED and ASVAB test books, each requiring a $15 deposit.

Renewals:
Most library
books may be renewed for extended time periods in two ways. These are 1)
by visiting the library with the item, or 2) by telephone. The telephone
number for book renewal is 693-6771 ext. 223. Some children's
books and request (on hold) books can not be renewed. Videocassette
tapes and DVD's can not be renewed.
Reserves:
Reserves may be placed on items
which are checked out in two ways. These are 1) in person at the
library, or 2) by telephone. Patrons placing reserves will be notified
by telephone when the items requested are available for pickup.
Videocassette tapes and DVD's may not be reserved and are available on a
first-come, first-served, first-go basis only.
Item Returns:
The library offers an after hours
book-only drop on its west-side (26th Street) wall. It is asked that no
audiovisuals be deposited in this drop in an effort to limit damage.
There are three (3) additional drop box sites. These are located at the
Winn Dixie on Highway 39 North and the Piggly
Wigglys on North Hills Street and in Collinsville. All library
materials may be deposited in these remote drops.
Inter-Library
Loans:
This free service allows the
Meridian-Lauderdale County Public Library to borrow and loan printed
materials with other libraries statewide and nationwide. The
Meridian-Lauderdale County Public Library reserves the right not to loan
any item less than six months old to its collection. A signed request
form must be submitted for Inter-Library loans. For further information,

Services:
Facsimile Services are available
through the Circulation department. The cost associated with this
service is $2 for the first page and $1 for each additional page. The
