  • Technology Classes for Beginners: Computer Basics-Windows

    Adult: Technology Classes for Beginners This beginner-level class introduces the user to basic computer functions, terminology, and best practices. In this class, users become familiar with computer hardware, software, and the Windows operating system. In addition, students learn how to use the mouse, open programs, close programs, efficiently manage files and folders, customize their desktop, use essential productivity tools, troubleshoot common issues, and install and remove programs on the computer.     Join us for Snapshot Day at Meridian-Lauderdale County Public Library as we celebrate the vibrant life of our library community! This special day invites you to participate in capturing and documenting the everyday moments that make our library a hub of activity and creativity. What to Expect: · Snapshot Challenge: Help us highlight the dynamic atmosphere of the library by taking photos of library staff or fellow patrons (with their permission). Your snapshots will contribute to a special showcase celebrating the library’s role in our community. How to Participate: 1. Snap a Photo: With permission, take photos of library moments and interactions. 2. Share Your Photos: Contribute to our library’s visual story by sharing your images with. Tag us on Facebook or email your photos to library@meridian.lib.ms.us with the subject line “Snapshot Day 2024.” 3. Complete Our Survey: Share your experience and feedback by filling out our survey.     This two-hour training session is designed to help participants improve their proficiency in using email and messaging platforms for effective communication. The course will cover essential tips and strategies for managing email accounts, organizing inboxes, composing clear and professional messages, and using various messaging apps for both personal and professional communication. Participants will learn how to optimize email settings, manage contacts, avoid common email pitfalls, and utilize messaging apps like WhatsApp, iMessage, and others for quick and efficient communication. The training will include practical exercises, best practices, and real-world examples to ensure participants leave with the confidence to manage their email and messaging tools effectively.
