    Join the Meridian-Lauderdale County Public Library and Mississippi Votes for an afternoon of creativity, community, and civic engagement! Students in grades 6–12 are invited to design their own bookmarks while learning about civic engagement, voting, and the impact they can make in their communities.     Career Connections: Smart Metering & Technology with Mississippi Power Kick off our Career Connections program by exploring the world of smart metering technology! Representatives from Mississippi Power will introduce students to Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) systems and explain how technology, software, and engineering work together to deliver electricity more efficiently. Learn about careers in the utility industry, the skills needed for these roles, and how technology plays a vital part in keeping our communities powered.

    Road Ready is a monthly interactive program for students in grades 6–12 who want to learn more about cars, roads, and safe driving. Through games, trivia, challenges, demonstrations, and trusted resources, participants will explore topics such as road signs, traffic safety, vehicle basics, emergency preparedness, and more. Please note: Road Ready is an educational library program and is not a driver's education course or driving instruction. Participation does not satisfy any state licensing or driver education requirements.

A representative from NAS Meridian will join us to talk about their role, experiences in the U.S. Navy, and what a career in the military can look like. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions, learn about different career paths, and discover more about opportunities in the Navy.

    Career Connections: Emergency Medical Services What’s it really like to work in emergency medical services? Join us for our next Career Connections program as we welcome a special guest from Metro Ambulance for a behind-the-scenes look at careers in emergency medical services! Teens will learn about the day-to-day work, skills and training needed for the job, and what it’s like to help people during an emergency. We may even get a hands-on introduction to lifesaving skills like CPR! Come with questions and discover whether a career in emergency medical services might be for you.

    Some things on the road are scarier than ghosts! 👻🚗 Road Ready is getting an October twist! Teens will take on spooky driving scenarios, unexpected road hazards, and fast-paced challenges while learning how to make safer decisions behind the wheel. Can you survive Fright Night and make it home safely? 🎃 No driver's license required.
