    Create your own journal/planner to get you organized for the new year. Supplies needed are a cereal box, a heavy-duty stapler, scape book paper, gel pens, and journal/planner stencils.

  • Pendulum Painting

    It’s International Creativity Month, visit the library and get creative by making your own pendulum painting. To make it at home you will need a medium size cardboard box, a dowel rod, about a yard of string, a paper cup, a pencil, an 8x10 canvas, and paint. Using a pencil punch a hole on either side of the box to hold the dole rod in place. Place the canvas in the bottom of the box, using a pencil punch a hole in the bottom of the paper cup and attach the string to the top of the cup. then the other end of the string to the dowel rod. Pour a little paint or mix different colors into the cup and let it swing, creating your own unique artwork.

    The children will use different size popsicle sticks to create a masterpiece.

    Toddlers will participate in the fingerplay, Five Little Speckled Frogs. For the craft they will place pre-cut frogs in a pond.

  • Write Like Maya

    Using paper and writing tools, create a story or poem using the theme “Friendship” to inspire you. Learn who Maya Angelou was. Check out some of her poems and stories.

  • Coasters of Love

    Make your own drink coasters using ceramic tiles, mod podge, and scrapbook craft paper. For a personal touch use photos or fabric. Once you’ve made your drink coasters keep them for yourself or give them to a loved one as a gift.
