    Join us for a special Musician Spotlight featuring Alana Broughton, musician and Executive Director of the Jimmie Rodgers Foundation! Alana will take center stage with a live musical performance, sharing her talent and love of music with us. 🎶 As a special part of the program, she’ll also weave in a little of Meridian’s musical history through her connection with the Jimmie Rodgers Foundation and Museum, sharing stories and perhaps even a Jimmie Rodgers song or two reimagined in her own way. 🎸 Come enjoy the music, meet the musician, and discover a little of the musical heritage that helped put Meridian on the map!     Spend part of Fall Break with us at the library! 🍁 Join us for the MLCPL Fall Festival, featuring live magic shows with Dorian LaChance, a petting zoo and pony rides with Angie Hale’s Pony Tales, face painting, and more fall fun for the whole family! Dorian LaChance will perform three magic shows throughout the day at 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM, and 2:00 PM. Please note that the final magic show begins at 2:00 PM. Feeling hungry? Southern Magnolia Sweets & Eats LLC and Fizz & Sipps will also be on site with food and treats available for purchase. 🍭 Festival activities are free and open to the public, so bring the family and spend a little of your Fall Break with us at the library! 🍂🐴🎩

  • 6th-12th Grade: Career Connections

    Career Connections: Emergency Medical Services What’s it really like to work in emergency medical services? Join us for our next Career Connections program as we welcome a special guest from Metro Ambulance for a behind-the-scenes look at careers in emergency medical services! Teens will learn about the day-to-day work, skills and training needed for the job, and what it’s like to help people during an emergency. We may even get a hands-on introduction to lifesaving skills like CPR! Come with questions and discover whether a career in emergency medical services might be for you.

  • Adults: Ghost of Meridian’s Past

    Meridian’s past has a few stories to tell...  Join us for a fun and slightly spooky trip into local history as we welcome Mrs. Annie McKee and friends from the Rose Hill Company. Hear tales of some of the people, places, and stories from Meridian’s past, told by the folks who know how to bring our local history to life. Come ready for a few chills, a few laughs, and a fascinating look at the stories hiding in Meridian’s history! 

  • K-5th Grade: Spooky Landscapes

    K–5th Grade

    The children will transform a black piece of paper into a spooky nighttime scene using the materials provided.

  • 6th -12th Grade: Road Ready-Fright Night

    Some things on the road are scarier than ghosts! 👻🚗 Road Ready is getting an October twist! Teens will take on spooky driving scenarios, unexpected road hazards, and fast-paced challenges while learning how to make safer decisions behind the wheel. Can you survive Fright Night and make it home safely? 🎃 No driver's license required.

  • Adults: Internet Safety Training

    Join the Meridian-Lauderdale County Public Library and Mississippi State University Extension for an interactive Internet Safety Training session focused on making smart choices online. Participants will learn practical tips for staying safe while using technology, including how to create strong passwords, recognize and avoid scams, and protect your digital footprint. 📅 Friday, October 23, 2026🕚 11:00 AM–12:00 PM📍 Activity Room on the 2nd Floor This program is open to anyone interested in learning more about digital safety. Registration is not required.

  • Adults: BINGO, Boos, & Costumes

    BINGO is getting a little dressed up this October!  Join us for a fun morning of BINGO, prizes, and a little seasonal silliness! Costumes are welcome, but definitely not required. Not into Halloween? No problem! Have a fancy hat, sparkly outfit, favorite character shirt, or something hanging in your closet that makes you think, “I love this, but where would I ever wear it?” Wear it here.  Come festive, fancy, silly, spooky, or simply as yourself. Just come ready to play BINGO and have some fun! 

  • Toddlers/Pre-K: Spooky Glow Party

    The toddlers will have a spooktacular time dancing to some of their favorite Halloween songs and creating spooky sticker collages.

  • K-5th Grade: Halloween Costume Party

    K–5th Grade

    The children are encouraged to throw on their most ghastly costume as we have a hauntingly good time listening to a killer playlist and participating in some thrilling party games.
